Wednesday Whereabouts

Since I didn't have much success with 'Wordless Wednesday', I'm not big on NOT talking, I decided to change it.  Each week, based on the photos, see if you can guess the location on 'Wednesday Whereabouts'.  Good luck!

Sorry for the nudity, but it's a pretty famous sculpture.

So, have you guessed it yet?

Where is this city?

Tuesday Trends: Which Watch?

HELP!  Which do you like better?  I need opinions, please.  I finally decided on what to do with the rest of my leftover Christmas/Birthday money...get a new watch!  I loved all the different colored Michael Kors watches, but ultimately decided on a silver one, since many of the other colors I liked, but they had gold accents.  I figured the gold would ultimately clash with my wedding rings, so I went with silver.  The only problem now is, I've narrowed it down to two, but still cannot decide.  And if you help me, I can help you too.  I found out something AMAZING!  Promise.  Read on to find out more...

Okay, so here's the deal...did you know that Nordstrom matches prices?  I noticed one day while online shopping that on every item, toward the bottom right of the page, it says:

"Did you know…
You'll never pay more. At Nordstrom, we are committed to offering you the best possible prices. If you ever find one of our items priced lower somewhere else, please call 1-888-282-6060 and we will gladly meet that price."

So I went on a hunt to find these watches a little less expensive and give it a shot.  Well, I found the $195 watch on Amazon.com for $158, and the one for $225 on Amazon.com for $169.  I called the number, and inquired more into how this worked, and they said if I found it on Amazon, as long as it was funded through Amazon, then it would most likely work.  Well...the lady put me on hold for a little while, and when she came back, she said they would both work, at that price!  So I ended up ordering both watches, and I guess I'll decide once they get here, with your help.  What a deal?!  And the best part, I can return whichever I don't want at the store, no questions asked.

Happy Shopping!

And let me know if this works for you too!

I've Been Tagged!

Thanks to Short Southern Momma for tagging me.  Now, to answer these questions...

1. Who is your style icon?

Um....okay, way too many to name, it really depends on the day, and what kind of mood I'm in, but here are two of my all-time favorites:

 Lilly Pulitzer

and

Kate Spade
*Did you know she sold her company back in Summer 2007 for a whopping $775 million!*

2.  What is your favorite Socialite Lit book?

3.  Favorite party theme?

Summer Backyard Cook-Out with a Live Band
Not sure if this is my all-time favorite,
but it's definitely the one on my mind right now,
yearning for warm weather!

4.  Go-to Halloween Costume?  Cowgirl

5.  Extravagance you cannot live without?  Tough one...either my cleaning ladies or my Blackberry.

6.  Living person you admire?  Mother and Father

7.  Greatest fear?  Losing someone close to me

8.  Traits you deplore in yourself?  Competitiveness and hard-headed, my husband would agree to those too.  :)

9.  Which talent would you most like to have?  Winning the lottery...okay, not exactly a talent, but...that sure would be nice!  Haha!

10.  Greatest achievement?  Finding my soul mate, and having two beautiful, healthy baby girls.

Alright, now on to who I should tag...

Monday Manners: No Free Kitchen Spoons

Many times at our house, our dinners aren't at the table anymore, they're TV dinners, you know what I mean...

If you're one of the few that cannot remember how to set a table, like myself (my debutante leader would be so ashamed), then hopefully this will help you too!

P.S. This is for a basic table setting, nothing formal about it.

Just remember, No Free Kitchen Spoons

(Left to Right)
N: Napkin
F: Fork
K: Knife
S: Spoon

Some basic table settings have a salad fork, just put that in between the napkin and dinner fork.  And remember, the knife blade always faces the plate, so you won't cut yourself when picking up the spoon.  Not quite sure if this is the real reason, but it makes sense, doesn't it?

Hope this helps!  My goal is to have a sit-down meal, at the table, at least once a week.  Hope those of you with hubbies are able to accomplish this.  From my POV, if he came home at a decent hour for dinner, we'd be able to do this more often.  Hopefully, one day!

Good luck!

Weekend Inspiration: Galatians 5:22,23

"But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23

Although it may be hard to acquire all of the fruits at one time, the main goal should be to have at least one of these fruits each day.  Exemplifying just one of these fruits, if not more, will allow one to be a witness and show others how the Lord is working in them.  And remember, the greatest of these is LOVE.

Have a wonderful weekend, and remember to eat your fruits!

Fashion Friday: Easter Dresses

Here are some cute dress ideas to wear Easter Sunday.  Take a look!  There are many price points too.  Posting it a week early, to give you time to order it.

Can you tell I'm really feeling YELLOW?  Must be this sunny day today!

Either of these shoes would look amazing with any of these looks!
It really depends on if you want to dress it up or down.
IMO, either metallic sandals or nude heels would work.

Thirsty Thursday: White Rabbit

Since it's still a little cool outside, I thought this drink was appropriate, and it will definitely warm you up!  The name is so fitting, during this Easter season.  Hope you enjoy it!  I found it on idrink.com.

.5oz Amaretto
.5oz Coffee Liqueur
1oz Half and Half
.5oz Irish Cream
1oz White Rum

Shake all ingredients and pour into an old-fashioned glass.

And you know I couldn't resist thinking of what I would wear if I were drinking this right now.

Laid back and comfortable!

I'm really loving the Michael Kors watches right now.  The only problem....too many choices!  Ahh!  My friend gave herself one for her 30th birthday.  Great idea!  May have to do that myself...too bad my 30th birthday isn't until December...

Wordless Wednesday: Candles

Best aroma ever!
It's the one you smell when you walk into the store.
Ahh!

And again, so much for "wordless", so far I'm 0/2!
But I wanted to wish my sister, #5 in line, Amy, a very happy birthday!
 22!
You are so old, but then again, you've always been the mature one out of all of us,
well beyond your young years!
LYLAS!
And by the way, this Volcano post is for you!

Tuesday Trends: Cameras

I finally got a new camera yesterday, a Canon Rebel DSLR XS!  Yay!  So get ready for some better picture-taking....hopefully!  Thanks to everyone for all the advice.  There are just so many different cameras out there, I had to make sure I got the right one, and I think I definitely did.  Here are some pictures from this past weekend...before the new camera.  The ones of the individual daughters in their baptism dresses are from the new camera.  Can't you tell the huge difference in quality?  I hope so.  And I hope next weekend is just as beautiful as this past one.

The bride, Ashley, and myself (best friends since elementary school)
at the Bridesmaid Luncheon
All the bridesmaids (L to R):
Mimi, Sara, the bride, Kenan, and myself
In case you're wondering, my dress is the Lilly Pulitzer Twyla dress, found here.
But I found it a lot cheaper somewhere else, thank goodness!
The bride and groom-to-be at the rehearsal practice
The groom's cake at the Rehearsal Dinner, and yes, it was red velvet (very Steel Magnolias I must say, although thank goodness it wasn't an armadillo!)
Chris was very surprised!  In addition to the cake, there were cannollis and tiramisu.  It's a wonder I fit into my bridesmaid dress the next day!  I'll post wedding day pics as soon as the bride sends them out.
It was a beautiful wedding!
Early the next morning, the girls were baptized at church, followed by a brunch at our home filled with lots of family!  We were so blessed to have so much of our family there.
Sunday was definitely a "doubly" special day!
Playing around, at the house.
W, growing up way too fast!
And E too!
LOVE this picture of her!
Can't wait to make it black and white, frame it,
and put it in her nursery.

They were so sweet during the baptism service.  They sat quietly on the front row, the entire hour-long service, like little angels.  The Lord was definitely quieting them that day.
I know L especially appreciated the peacefulness.

Yes, my weekend was eventful, but very fun!

Monday Manners: Dancing (with the Stars!)

Dancing with the Stars has announced the line-up for their next season, airing March 22nd.  Should be interesting to watch, but I'm not thinking there's not that much natural talent with any of them, except for maybe the male figure skater, Evan Lysacek and the Pussycat Dolls girl, Nicole Scherzinger.  But what do I know?  Maybe they'll surprise me!  And even so, I'm sure it will be just as entertaining.  Here's what I think:

Buzz Aldrin: Astronaut; He'll win hearts for attempting to dance, but he's a little too old I'm afraid.  I think he's in his 80's.  Good for him though!

Pamela Anderson:  Ditzy Baywatch babe; She'll be this year's Denise Richards or Holly (one of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends).

Erin Andrews: Sports reporter for ESPN; Big controversy last year about someone spying on her, while she was in her hotel room; she's paired with Maksim too (I love him!)

Shannen Doherty:  Played Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills, 90210; She loves DRAMA, apparently everyone hated her while filming 90210, so it will be interesting if she'll clash with anyone on DWTS

Kate Gosselin:  Um, everyone knows who she is; Can you believe she's doing this?  She says she's going to practice the routine during the week, while watching her children back in Pennsylvania.  Um, yeah...right.  She'll never see her children!

Evan Lysacek:  Vancouver gold medalist in figure skating; Guessing he'll have the best male natural talent, and will also be vying for the women's favorite eye candy vs. Jake (from the Bachelor)

Niecy Nash:  The Clean House host; I love her show, but she'll most likely be out quick because of her annoying voice, lack of talent, and not enough of the popular vote.

Chad Ochocinco (85 in Spanish):  Football player for the Cincinnati Bengals; He definitely loves the spotlight, so that won't be a problem.  He's known for his creative end zone dances, and for changing his last name from Johnson to his jersey number, 85.  Football players tend to get far, and he's also paired with Cheryl Burke, who has won a couple of seasons.

Jake Pavelka:  Pilot and was the last Bachelor; He's too stupid to win, he picked VIENNA!  Boo.  Enough said.  And how unfortunate too that we're going to have to watch her every week sitting on the front row, with her lovely hair extensions and all.  I would say he should get kicked off early, so we wouldn't have to see her anymore, but he'll have the fans vote, or maybe not.  :)

Nicole Scherzinger:  Singer for the Pussycat Dolls, also do you remember her in Eve 6 or something like that, it was a long time ago on MTV about an all girls band?; She'll definitely have the talent, and she's paired with Derek Hough, he's won before.  My guess is she'll get pretty far.

Aiden Turner:  Actor on All My Children; He's the only one I have no idea who he is.  I don't follow that soap.  Maybe he'll be the dark horse, but I'm guessing he won't have the popularity vote.  Unless he's really hot.  I can't tell from just a picture of his face.  If he is, he'll be competing with Lysacek and Pavelka.  I guess we'll have to watch and find out!

Should be a good season!  What do you think of the celebrities in this upcoming season?  Any guesses on who will win it?

MIA

I am so sorry I haven't posted since Thursday! It's killing me that I can't keep up with my blog, but my computer charger shorted out and I'm having to order the piece. So as soon as it comes in, I'll resume my regular posts. Promise! The daughters were baptized this morning, and I was in a wedding this past weekend, so hopefully photos will come soon too!

Thirsty Thursday: Milk

Sorry, no fun drink this week, lame, I know, but I HAD to post this instead.  So we'll say this week's drink is MILK...it does a body good!  Gisele's body is ridiculous, after just having a baby!  Read more of the article here.  Gag!  Only a supermodel, and only someone who has enough money and time to do kung fu and yoga during pregnancy can look like this, post-pregnancy.  I seriously thought Heidi Klum was the only one that could actually pull this off.  Ha!  And impressive husbands, to boot.  These girls have some major secrets they're not sharing.

WARNING, these photos by Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue magazine are going to make you sick!

The one of her galloping on a horse just SIX weeks after giving birth doesn't even make sense!  I've had two babies and there's no way I'd get on a horse that soon!  CRAZINESS!?

Look at that stomach!

And yes, these are really photos of her.  If you don't believe me, and to see more photos, go here.

Who knows?  Maybe Gisele will inspire some pregnant women to start up kung fu, only to be completely depressed afterward, realizing that it's still not going to help them rebound after having a baby.
