Fashion Friday: Lilly at Lifeguard Press

As many of you may know, Lifeguard Press is a provider of Lilly Pulitzer Stationery and Gifts.  They have the largest array of Lilly Pulitzer gift items I have found.  They also carry Jonathan Adler, Susan Wallace Barnes and Susan Branch products.  Click here to check them out.  I was perusing their site yesterday, and thought I would show you some items that are on my wish list.  Hope you enjoy them, as much as I want to!

I not only love the exterior of this gorgeous agenda, I love the inside too.  Here's what it contains:

• Individual months have Month at a Glance and Day by Day
• Coordinating Sticker Sheets
• Blank pages for notes
• Pocket folder for business cards, miscellaneous stuff one can't do without
• Elastic Band Closure

And the best part?  You can start using it in August.  The agenda runs from this August 2010, until next December 2011.  From their site:  "These useful and unique daily agendas are full of frisky fun! The colored tabs make for happy planning. Complete with weekly and monthly calendar pages, starting August 2010, in different Lilly Pulitzer prints, dates to remember, contacts and notes."

Why not add a magnetic board, to match the agenda?  Can you tell I like this print?  It even comes with six cute magnets.  Lilly carries Shift Dress Magnets as well, that I adore!  Since we have a refrigerator that is not magnetic, this makes me still want them, because I could use them on my Lilly magnetic board.  From their site:  "This whimisical magnetic board is the perfect place for displaying photos, notes, inspiration and favorite finds."

I just used the last page of my mini-notebook in the Animal Crackers print yesterday.  I love using my notebook for making things-to-do lists, writing recipes and messages, and even keeping score when playing games.  I think I want this print next.  Love the pink and green!  From their site:  Brighten up your note taking with less bulk in your bag.
• Inside pocket
• 160 perforated, college ruled pages
• Two labels included

I think the hubs would love me if I got a wall calendar.  That way he would know what was going on, at least some of the time.  :)  And what better of a way, than to write it on this calendar with all of the fun Lilly prints!  From their site:  "Brighten up your wall with this one-of-a-kind pattern-packed calendar. Unexpected surprises are scattered throughout, including a tonque twister for each month. There is never a dull moment with Lilly!"

Even the daughters could enjoy some pink and green Lilly, while eating their meals!  From their site: Set is dishwasher safe, so clean up will be quick and easy.
Box set includes:
9" Plate
6-1/4" Bowl
Coordinating Fork & Spoon

And the end of the summer wouldn't be complete without some cute coasters for entertaining.  From their site:  "Sip your pink cocktail in style with these fresh and fruity coasters!  A unique and special gift for the ultimate socialite.  8 printed coasters in decorative circular gift box."

Lifeguard Press is obviously your one-stop shop for anything you need, from decorating to entertaining with Lilly!  Happy Shopping!

Thirsty Thursday: The Currant Affair

I found this week's cocktail from a blog I follow, Lazaro Cooks.  He always has the best recipes, and sometimes makes things thirty times just to get the recipe right.  How dedicated is that?  His wife is so lucky too, because he makes the most delicious meals for her.  One of the other perks about his blog is that he has guest bloggers that provide great recipes, and sometimes a mixologist or two.  Kate Shea Kennon provided this delicious recipe for the Currant Affair on Lazaro Cooks! last week.

3 oz. vodka
2 oz. red currant simple syrup
Unsweetened grapefruit soda
Red currants for garnish

To make a red currant simple syrup, dissolve one cup sugar in one cup water over low flame. When the sugar dissolves, add one cup of red currants. Stir and let cool. Pour into an airtight container and the syrup will last for up to four months.

"In the Currant Affair, I used Gokurí Grapefruit Soda, a soft drink from the Japanese Beverage Company, Suntory. Gokurí, while difficult to find if you don’t live near a Japanese grocery, is particularly wonderful in cocktails. It was the true key to this cocktail’s success: Gokurí has real fruit pulp, and it doesn’t hide the grapefruit tartness with sugar. It’s a very sophisticated beverage, and the same effect could be had with grapefruit juice and some club soda. You don’t want to use an American grapefruit soda like Squirt, as good as Squirt is, because it is too sweet and will pile on and overpower your currants."

Delicious, right?

While sipping this drink, I would be wearing this, to match!

Simplicity is key with this ensemble

Cheers to a lovely Thursday, Y'all!

Yesterday's location was Bora Bora.  Many of y'all guessed it right, and were on the same wavelength as me.  I had to choose it for this week because it was so appropriate, being that Ali and her two last bachelors will be there next week.  Plus, I wanted to get a heads up on what the location looked like, before seeing it next week on the show.

Can you guess the location this week?  Oh, to be there right now!  I'm guessing if I were there, I'd finally get to finish my book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I'm pretty sure this place is as close to paradise as it gets.  I've never been, but it's looking very tempting for our next vacation!

Happy Wednesday, y'all!

Tuesday Trends: The Men Tell All

For those of you who still watch The Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons, myself included, no matter how ridiculous each season gets, did you watch last night's episode?  I thought all of the men were pretty mature, and composed themselves very well...compared to when it's The Bachelor, and the women tell all.  The women always act so much cattier toward one another.  Seriously, the guys even managed to make jokes at Crazy Kasey, and he was okay with it.  I still don't understand how they all accepted his mental state, but good for them.  They even made comments about Frank, that actually made complete sense.  They said he wasn't like Justin (Rated R), that he came on the show, wanting to find love, but had no idea his old feelings for his previous girlfriend would come flooding back.  Albeit, he is selfish, and broke Ali's heart, I don't think he wanted to do that.  I think all of the guys agreed on that.  One thing's for sure, when Ali finally came out, you could tell all of the men still loved Ali!

I apologize to those of you who haven't watched this season.  I'm sure all of this sounds foreign to you, but I'll be back to my normal posting tomorrow.  In the meantime ladies, who should Ali choose?  If you know already, no spoilers please!  Thanks!

Chris L. from Cape Cod

or

Roberto from Charleston (far left)

Ask Sister #5, I loved Chris L. from the beginning.  Although he does act a little awkward, I think it has more to do with the cameras being there, than how he really acts.  He just seems so genuine and smitten with Ali.  I seriously hope she doesn't break his heart!

I can't wait to find out next week who will get the final rose!

Monday Manners: Grits Etiquette

Who doesn't love grits?!  Just writing this post makes me want some, with butter, salt and a sprinkle of cheese.  According to Miss Janice, there is a proper etiquette with grits.  I never knew this, but I'm thinking it's because these rules have been ingrained in my head since I was little.  I guess a Southern girl just knows.

"Given enough of it, the inhabitants of planet Earth would have nothing to fight about. A man full of [grits] is a man of peace." [The Charleston News and Courier, 1952]
-Grits should always be served on a plate...along with your eggs and bacon and eaten with a fork; unless they are served alone, then you may use a bowl. Of course, they may also be served in a martini glass for a posh presentation!

-Grits are always eaten with a fork, because they should be thick enough not to run through the tines.  This is especially true for my daughter, who is learning to eat with utensils.  Grits are her favorite, but they can be a little frustrating to eat, if the grits are too runny.

-Never put syrup on your grits--this irritates us Southerners to no end!

-Don't even think about putting sugar on your grits!!!

-Ketchup on your grits?...no ma'am, that's very Waffle House!

-Don't you dare eat instant grits...don't you dare!

-Don't call grits "cream of wheat"--again, very irritating to Southerners!

Do y'all agree, or disagree with these?  Are there any of you who have never eaten grits?

And the best part?  Miss Janice is giving away some grits-inspired goodies, to a lucky winner.  Two books, a GRITS (Girls Raised in the South) apron, and some Dixie Grits.

Head on over to Miss Janice's blog, to enter!

Weekend Inspiration: Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  How refreshing and optimistic.  He is an amazing God, isn't he?

Fashion Friday: On a Dress Kick

So I guess lately I've been on a dress kick, and honestly, I really don't have any excuse to be buying them right now, since I don't have anywhere to wear them at the current time.  I do have four weddings coming up in September, October, November and January, so I guess I can get some ideas for now, and then maybe the ones I really like will be on sale by then.  Here's hoping!

Don't you just love all of these?

(Just got this one yesterday for a really good deal!)

Put all the dresses together, and you've got...

My husband will love that I'm just eying these, and not actually purchasing them...for now anyway...that's if he actually reads my blog, which he doesn't.

I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend.
It's supposed to be a scorcher here.
Lots of mandatory pool time is required!

Oh, and because I'm a procrastinator, and wanted to wait until the last full day to take pictures of the girls at the beach last week, instead, I got sick on the last day, and didn't end up taking any photos of the girls.  I know, boo me.  Well, actually I did manage to take one, from earlier in the week.  This is W, drying off, sans bathing suit, before heading in for dinner.

Some decorations, at the house we stayed.

E sat up around Memorial Day.  And very soon after that, she began crawling everywhere.  Now, she's trying desperately to pull up on everything.  The downside?  When she falls back and hits her head, from unsuccessfully pulling up on something.  Poor thing.  At least she continues to try.  Personally, I'd be a little frustrated, but it sure doesn't seem to bother her.

Here are the girls, having a ball in the tub.  This is the first time they bathed together, about two days ago.

Cheers to chubby, wubby babies and fun dresses.  Don't the two go together so well?

Thirsty Thursday: Spiked Cucumber Lemonade

Staying with the cucumber theme, this week's drink is very similar to last week's drink, but a little sweeter.  It still incorporates cucumbers, but with a sweet/tart taste.  Hope you like it!  This recipe is also from Top of the Hub at the Prudential, in Boston.  Can you tell I really liked the drink selection while I was there?  I'm dying to try this one, and it sounds so easy to make!  Unfortunately, I do not have the exact amounts of each mixer, but you can probably eye it, and adjust, based on your own taste buds.

Crop cucumber vodka
Muddled lemon
Cane sugar
Sprite

Sip this concoction, with the following...

(If you've never tried on this dress, you should.  It is so comfortable, and looks good on every body type.)

Dressed down with these,

or dressed up, with these,

(Dogeared carries earrings now.  How cute and simple are these?)

Hope y'all have a lovely Thursday!

Yesterday's location was Prince Edward Island, in Canada.  Congrats to everyone who guessed it correctly!  I've always loved it, ever since I started watching all of the Anne of Green Gables movies.  They were all filmed there.  The island is also known for its perfect seasons.  Wouldn't that be so nice!  Snow in winter, cool in spring, etc.  Um, I don't know about y'all, but here, we usually have a two-week spring, and then it gets too hot, way too fast!
