Thirsty Thursday: Santa’s Sleigh Cocktail

The Santa’s Sleigh cocktail was provided by Sandra Lee.  When I used to watch The Food Network all the time, I always loved Sandra’s Lee’s “cocktail time”.  This one in particular sure sounds delicious, especially this time of year!

Ingredients

  • White sugar crystals, preferably coarse
  • 2 cups store-bought eggnog, chilled
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup amaretto liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

Directions

Dampen the rims of 4 martini glasses and then line the rims with sugar crystals.
Combine eggnog, brandy, amaretto, nutmeg, and ice cream in a blender; process until smooth. Pour mixture into martini glasses and garnish each glass with a whole cinnamon stick.

While sipping this, I’d love to be…
– wearing one of these…
I’ve got the coral one already, and LOVE it!  Loren Hope Designs and Society Social joined forces and made this amazing “On the Rocks” cocktail ring collection.  At only $58 a pop, these rings have ring adjusters on the inside of the rings, so no worries about finding the perfect fit!  I wore mine to a Christmas party this past week, and received so many compliments on it.  Now I’m just trying to decide what color I want next…maybe the crystal?
– watching one of these Christmas movies…
One Magic Christmas.  This is my all-time favorite Christmas movie.  If you haven’t seen it yet, you NEED to!  It’s the Hallmark movie, before Hallmark movies, with such an amazing message.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.  This is a close second for my favorite Christmas movie.  I can’t wait until the kids are old enough to watch it with us.
Love, Actually and The Holiday are both great ones too!
The Family Stone.  This is by far my newest favorite Christmas movie!  I’m starting to think that the producers of Parenthood saw the dad (aka Coach) in this movie, and approached him for the part of Zeke on Parenthood.  Wouldn’t you agree?  Oh, and if you haven’t seen Parenthood yet, you’re seriously missing out!
And here are few others that are great ones to watch over the holidays…Elf, The Santa Clause, Four Christmases and A Christmas Story…and Scrooged.
For the kiddos, they can’t live without Shrek the Halls, The Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Elf on the Shelf, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer this time of year!
Here’s hoping you have all of your shopping complete, and can take some to sit back and relax, spend some quality family/friends time, and remember the true reason for the season!
Christmas is in three days, y’all!
Cheers to a wonderful Thursday!

  2. "The Holiday" and "The Family Stone" are two of my favorites. I've already watched both of them multiple times recently. That cocktail looks so yummy!

  3. I loved The Family Stone, even though no one else I know does, ha. I really love the old Christmas movies though, like White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street.

Oh, and Parenthood is one of my favorite shows too. Cute blog, I'm a new follower.
