Thirsty Thursday: The Darby's Watermelon Cocktail

Tory Burch posted this cocktail yesterday, and it looks like it'll be a nice, refreshing treat to sip on this holiday weekend.  Enjoy!
The Darby’s Watermelon Cocktail

Ingredients:
6-8 mint leaves
1.5 oz. Grey Goose vodka
.75 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. lime juice

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a high ball glass over three watermelon-purée ice cubes.
To make watermelon ice cubes, use seedless watermelon and separate the flesh from the rind. Then purée the fruit and pour into ice trays. You can smash the fruit into the ice cube trays as well. Freeze until ready.

After seeing this image around the blogosphere today (please forgive me, I can't remember where I found the image), I knew I had to pick up these baubles at Baublebar, to try this look out sometime.

Plus, right now, if you purchase two of these bib necklaces in the colors fuchsia, cobalt and/or emerald, you get 25% off.  Enter code: BAUBLEMANIA at check-out!

And how great is this polka dot chambray top??  At less than $25 from Old Navy, you'd be crazy to pass it up!  So many retailers are carrying this trend now, but Old Navy seems to hit the right price point, and based on the reviews on the site, customers seem very pleased with the quality and fit.  Pair it with everything in your wardrobe this fall/winter...even colored shorts, until the weather turns.

Hope y'all have a great rest of your evening!

Wednesday Whereabouts: Summer's Ending

Aside from the last two overcast days, with the remnants of Hurricane Isaac, we actually had nice weather all weekend!  So in an effort to enjoy the last days of summer fun, before school starts back next week, we've spent as much time outside, as possible.
E was making sure her tiara was flashing for the photo op.
We started the weekend off with some specialty pancakes prepped by the hubs, and some dress-up time.
A day of fun on Saturday at the splash park, celebrating a friend's third birthday.
So excited!  Poor thing, this was right before she ran off, fell, and wrecked both of her knees.
But cupcakes make any boo-boo feel better!
On Sunday, we had another day of fun at the park with the hubs.  E had an accident (which is rare), so she's sporting L's swim diaper I randomly found in my diaper bag.  Problem solved.  W was showing off her "moon rocks" she found on the gravel trail.

Happy Wednesday, Y'all!
If you're near the hurricane, stay safe!!

Tuesday Trends: Nordstrom Shoe Sale!

We're busy here trying to prep for school starting next week, as well as fitting in those yearly check-ups.  W had to get THREE shots yesterday - she was a champ!  It earned her a surprise treat, along with a trip to see the fish at Nordstrom and a balloon there, and some Tory Burch orange iPad time at Tory Burch.  And her mama shopped a little, too.  :)  Nordstrom has a great sale shoe that just started this morning.  If you're looking for a great fall pair, or a summer sandal, to extend your summer, you should check it out.

Here are just a FEW of my favorites...

Fashion Friday: Favorite Fall Scents

As September approaches, so will the turning of the leaves and crisp, fall weather.  What aroma do you smell this time of year?  I've still got a little ways to go, before my Pink Jasmine Nest candle burns out, but I've already got my fall scent ready...

While last fall, I loved the Spiced Pumpkin Yankee Candle, I think this fall I'm going to try the Pumpkin Chai Nest candle.  I've heard so many people rave about it, that it's got me excited for the weather to change, so I can start burning it on my mantle.

And then of course, when that one has its last light, it'll be ready for the Holiday Nest candle!  My faaaavorite scent during the Christmas season!
If you're wanting to get a head start, go ahead and order the Holiday Nest Candle.  It's already on back-order on Neiman Marcus until mid-October.  Just think, if you order it now, it'll arrive just in time for the holiday season!

On another note, do you have a signature scent?  I'd love to have just one scent I wore everyday, but I'm much too ADD for that.  I wear a scent, based on my mood or the occasion.

My go-tos have been...
This is still my all-time favorite! A perfect, light, everyday scent!

This is a great evening scent.  Trust me, your significant other will love it.
The hubs loves when I wear it.

But more recently, I've discovered Coco Mademoiselle and LOVE it.  Until I find a new one, this has been the perfume I've worn everyday.

We ended the week at the pool today, and are grilling out ribs tonight with friends.  I'm kind of sad that there aren't many more days of "all day pool time" left!  But then again, the fall season will bring a new kind of fun - bring on the football, cool weather, changing leaves, light sweaters and fun cocktails!  Cheers!

Thirsty Thursday: The Sidecar

I'd never heard of this cocktail, until I came across it, and now I NEED to try it!  It sounds delicious!  I found it HERE, a Huffington Post article about five simple cocktails to take camping with you over Labor Day weekend.

"With its simple yet infinitely balanced blend of ingredients, the Sidecar has become one of the most popular classic cocktails of the past century."
2 oz. Cognac
1 oz. Cointreau
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
Cracked ice
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: cocktail
Garnish: sugared rim (optional)

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled glass.

While sipping this, I'd love to be wearing this...
The J.Crew Perfect Shirt is THE best fitting shirt, with the best feeling fabric!  I have a couple of them that I wore a lot last fall/winter, and had to get another one for this season.  They also have the mini gingham print (shown above in fresh purple) available in blue, pink, and green.

Sitting here, with this view...

Just a heads up, for all of you still taking advantage of the Lilly sale...keep checking back every once in awhile.  Lilly Corporate asked all Lilly stores to overnight them their spring and summer items, so they can refresh the sale, as they get it in.  So they're restocking their inventory for the online sale!  I just picked this up today...and it definitely wasn't on the site yesterday...

Wednesday Whereabouts: Waiting for Lilly

Those of you crazy enough to brave the Lilly Online Sale yesterday, how did you do?  With the first crash around 8:05am, then the promise of a fix by 4pm, except changing that time to 6pm, it definitely took some dedicated Lilly Lovers to stick around for the sale site to finally work (which many of us know didn't start at 6pm).  Well, I got my iPad in bed with me around 11:00pm last night, and finally had some luck!  Shopping the sale was a breeze and the checkout process was smooth as it could be.  Not sure if it was the IT Team at Lilly to finally succeed in getting it to run smoothly, or if it was many of the Lilly shoppers' bedtimes, but either way, I was rewarded.  These prices were just too hard to resist!

Lilly Pulitzer Lana Top in Navy ($19)
Thought this would go well with many of my statement necklaces.

Carolina Bubble Dress
Perfect for church in the spring!  From $78, to only $24!

Little Lilly Shift
For only $24, yes, please.

In my opinion, you can never have too many Elsas!
From $158 to $49.

Cassie Top in Pink Lilac (From $58 to $14)
Again, a great top for wearing with fun necklaces.

Thinking ahead, I grabbed a swimsuit for W, for next summer (two sizes larger than she wears now). Just a heads up, girls Lilly swimsuits run super small! Snagged this one for only $19.

Lilly Pulitzer Connell Sweater in Thyme Green
From $348 to $89, this one will be keeping me cozy all fall/winter long.

I'd love to know what you snagged at the sale, if you actually had some luck!
Also, just a note, be sure and check back this morning and tomorrow morning if you missed out on your favorite Lilly piece.  Many times, Lilly will re-stock and add items back, and if you're lucky, you might see your piece for sale again.  Good luck!
