Fashion Friday: Onward Reserve Opening + GUESSkids

Last night, Lanier and I were invited to a grand opening party at Onward Reserve, a new store here in town. For locals, it’s in Park Road Shopping Center.

Owner TJ Callaway already has one store in Athens, GA and this is their second build. In his words, the store is “rustic like a hunting lodge, with a polished demeanor. Very appropriate for the type of gentleman that lives the lifestyle. The décor is taxidermy-heavy, but each piece has a story.” Inside you’ll find “a full service bar where all patrons are offered something to drink. A flat screen TV and a leather couch are surrounded by Barbour jackets in the back – quite an inviting place for those needing to escape for a bit. The friendly staff is conversational, and presents a low-pressure experience. Quite simply, the inventory speaks for itself.”

So fun meeting up with one my youngest sister’s old roomies from college too!

The whole scene was awesome, with a bluegrass band playing, delicious Southern bites, a fully stocked bar, but the best?

Jed Portman (assistant editor of Garden & Gun) was in attendance, signing Garden & Gun’s The Southerner’s Handbook. You know how much I love the magazine, so having the chance to meet him was a very cool experience!

It was such a pleasure to meet these pretty ladies too! Definitely a fun night was had by all. I think Lanier and I finally rolled out of there around 10p with a signed book, some needlepoint flasks among other things, and I know Lanier (and my dad) have already mentioned going back soon.

On another note…

How sweet are these little tie-dye dresses (now on sale!)? The awesome ladies at GUESSkids sent these gifts over, as well as some cool striped shorts for the boys. The girls seriously want to wear them everyday, and in fact, they both slept in them the other night!

As soon as they had them on, they were dancing and twirling around. P. S. How cool is Wheeler’s hair? She kept her braids in the other night, and this was the result when we took them out the next morning. I’m definitely going to have to try that again soon. She loves it!
